Mysore to.......Udaipur....

Angela standing with security/police out in front of a palace in Mysore- these guys were immediately reprimanded by their supervisor for allowing photos to be taken of them.

An "illegal" photo in the palace in Mysore- it is beautiful- but you aren't allowed to have cameras in the palace- so I snuck this one.
The palace.

Just another day in India....I was trying to get up enough courage to pet the cow- for good luck- but never did.
A HUGE rainstorm in Mysore- we are standing in an incense factory looking out- this kid was waiting out the storm with us.
Marketplace in Mysore- there are lots of pictures my dad would have enjoyed- this being one of them.

Marketplace.

Generally on the beach we had tons of kids around us selling stuff- this was pretty typical of a 'relaxing' day on the beach.

As we were leaving for dinner one night- a frog jumped in our room. I panicked and Ang said "big deal- it is a frog." I KNEW we would not think it was 'just a frog' at 1 a.m. when it was ribbiting in our room. We were soon moving all of the furniture to find the frog. Oh the stuff that happens in India.
As I've mentioned, people constantly were taking our pictures- this was a typical example of someone handing their baby to us and wanting to take a picture. Who looks more scared- the baby or Ang?

Life on the beach in Goa....

This is one of my favorite pictures that we snapped in India. We had given several kids bubbles on the train platform- word immediately spread and these are kids running towards us for their share of the bubbles. It warmed my heart and is an example of how even in the worst poverty- little things bring smiles.

Playing with the bubbles.

This is one of the many rock formations in Hampi- it was one of the hottest places we were in India- but also where we did some volunteering which made it worth the heat.

Life in India.

Kids at the place we volunteered- doing their English homework.

Hampi.

I found a cockroach in my bag- this is me unpacking the entire bag to make sure there were no others visiting us.
Ang and I being fed by Kalpana's aunt and uncle- our plates were never empty!
The poverty was shocking in Mumbai- these are some of the slums around the city.

Men travelling around Mumbai.

This is the bridge where Ang infamously stepped in cow poop. As you can see, we had lots of cows to avoid as we crossed.

Washing it all off....

At one of the temples in Udaipur- believe it or not they encouraged her to sit down and pose this way.

Udaipur was beautiful- here is a view from a palace on the hill. The entire city was set on water- which makes everything more stunning! Plus it was white...in India.

  1. Thanks for the update Linds. Really neat being able to finally put a "face" on all the places you guys visited. Funny, but the bikes outside the school, and the girls studying at the school you volunteered at were the two best examples of the daily lives you two witnessed. Walk by that school the same time today and tomorrow and the next day, and the next, and those bicycles will be parked right there and their riders inside studying or as a couple people I know "tending to be overly social."
